“According to Exodus 19 … Mount Sinai blazed with fire, was enveloped by a huge plume of cloud or smoke and shook violently as in an earthquake. Flashes of lightning and sounds like trumpet blasts also occurred. The description fits a a volcanic eruption. The emission of hot gases from fissures can produce trumpet-like sounds, and observers have reported seeing massive electrical displays emanatin...g from volcanic clouds. No volcanoes are known to have erupted during that period in the Sinai Peninsula, but Arabia has many volcanoes. One volcanic mountain in the western Arabian Peninsula, Hala al Bedr (Mount Bedr), is according to this theory a particularly promising candidate for ancient Mount Sinai.”
NIV Archeological Study Bible, p. 123.
It certainly looks like the Muslim world is starting to consider the possibility the Exodus did in fact occur in Saudi Arabia. The author of this article is quoting the following verse as potential evidence of Mohammad being in the same vicinity as Paran, which would mean Paran was in Saudi...
'The Lord came from Sinai and dawned from Mount Seir upon them; he shone forth from Mount Paran he came from ten thousands of holy ones: with flaming fire at his right hand. Yea, he loved His people; all those consecrated to him were in his hand: so they followed in thy feet, receiving direction from thee, when Moses commanded us a law, as a possession for the congregation of Jacob. Thus the Lord became King in Jeshurun when the heads of the people were gathered, all the tribes of
Below is another translation of Deuteronomy 33:2, one that when put together with the one above demonstrates how 'right hand' equals 'mountain slope', which of course positions God in the centre of the volcano.
"He said: 'The LORD came from Sinai and dawned over them from Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran. He came with myriads of holy ones from the south, from his mountain slopes.' (From the NIV Bible, Deuteronomy 33:2)"
I don't quite know how the Muslims came up with the idea this Bible verse foretold the arrival of Mohammad but I can only suspect it's because of the 'he came from ten thousands of holy ones', which may have been interpreted as meaning 'ten thousands of muslims'.
Well, Muslims the world over will weep into their slippers when they find out this is just a metaphorical description of volcanoes erupting one after the next along the very tectonic line mentioned in the article. Talk about daft! I don't know. So close yet so far way. 'Dawned' means erupted. 'Holy ones' are flaming gas leaks or flaming vents. 'Shone forth' means erupted.
But one thing is probably correct.......the Hebrews were in Saudi.
Were the Hebrews in Saudi Arabia?
Is Paran in Saudi Arabia?
There is no real evidence of moses or the exodus
ReplyDeleteUntil relatively recently you'd struggle to find a person in Europe who didn't fully believe in god. Now many people believe the Bible was completely fabricated. The truth often lies in the middle. For me, the evidence for Moses and the Exodus lies in the Bible. Little things added that were not necessary indicate some stories really are based on historical events. For example, Moses is reported to have had a shining face (shon) when he came down from Mount Sinai and when he came out of the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle. This makes a lot of sense as I firmly believe Mount Sinai was a volcano and the Ark was sited near a lava vent. These things would certainly make is face shine.
ReplyDeleteThe fact Mount Sinai is clearly described as a volcano also makes me believe the Hebrews stumbled across a volcano. The fact they clearly did not know what it was is also an indicator of authenticity.
I've seen a video that explains the possible existence of evidence of the exodus. I'll try to find it.
Yes Exodus occurred in Saudi.
ReplyDeleteThere is no real evidence of Moses or the exodus because most scholars and archaeologists look to the Sinai Peninsula as the location for the mountain. However, archaeological excavations that have been carried out in northwest Saudi Arabia (e.g., at Qurayyah) have shown evidence of an advanced civilization (extensive irrigation, fortifications, a citadel, and pottery manufacturing) at the end of the Late Bronze Age. This was most likely biblical Midian, the place where Horeb (Sinai's alternate name) or the "Mountain of God" was located near (Exod. 3). Mount Horeb/Sinai was most certainly a volcano!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your contribution Jacob. If you have any links I can use that would be great. This is just what I need and what I'm being asked for.
